▎The Sacred Jowo Rinpoche
Jowo Rinpoche is Tibetan Buddhism’s most sacred statue – a 12-year-old likeness of Shakyamuni Buddha personally consecrated by the Buddha himself, now enshrined in Lhasa’s Jokhang Temple. The “History of Tibetan Kings” records that this statue “plants liberation seeds in all who see, hear, remember or touch it.” Tsatsa (sacred clay impressions) represent a thousand-year Tibetan tradition of mixing relics with clay to create “portable stupas.”
